Qatar Cool Signs Construction Contract for 3rd Cooling Plant in West Bay (4th in Qatar)<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Qatar District Cooling Company, also known as Qatar Cool, a major district cooling company in the region, signed a contract for the construction of its 3rd<\/sup> plant in West Bay (4th<\/sup> in Qatar), and held an official ceremony on 22nd May 2014 at the St. Regis Hotel, Doha.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The signing ceremony was attended by Qatar Cool\u2019s board members and senior management marking a significant milestone in the company\u2019s history as it prepares to commence construction of its 3rd<\/sup> plant in the West Bay area. Once completed in 2016, the plant will provide cooling to residential and commercial towers. The plant is designed to produce 40,000 tons-cooling once completed, cutting down energy usage by 40-45% compared to traditional cooling systems.<\/p>

With district cooling offering an environment-friendly solutions to address the nation\u2019s cooling requirements, Mr. Badr Al Meer, Chairman of Qatar Cool, underscored the importance of the company\u2019s expansion to Qatar\u2019s long term commitment to sustainable development \u201cIt\u2019s with great pride that we officially continue our expansion plans by opening our fourth plant in Qatar, which is the third in the West Bay area. The benefits of district cooling are increasingly being recongnised by governments, developers and end users alike. Not only does it reduce operating costs and building maintenance costs, but it also helps reduce carbon footprints and offers other environmental benefits in line with the country\u2019s National Vision 2030.\u201d<\/p>

Having completely sold out the capacity of its other plants in West Bay, serving 46 towers, the third plant is a response to the steadily growing demand for district cooling services.\u00a0 Developers are already being placed on the rapidly growing list, for Qatar Cool\u2019s increased services, attracted by the numerous benefits of district cooling.\u00a0<\/p>

Significantly more cost effective over the long term than conventional solutions, district cooling at the same time cares for the environment; reduces CO2<\/sub> emissions, consumes less energy, and decreases air pollution and combating global warming. As well as working toward the wider community\u2019s good, centralizing the cooling systems in remote locations frees significant leasable areas in buildings, which could be utilized for leisure amenities such as swimming pools and gardens. \u00a0Such centralization also contributes to noise reduction by eliminating the need of conventional outdoor units in residential buildings.<\/p>

In addition to its West Bay plants, Qatar Cool also operates the world\u2019s largest district cooling plant \u201dThe Integrated District Cooling Plant\u201d (IDCP) at The Pearl-Qatar, supplying 130,000 tons-cooling to the Island\u2019s 45,000 residents. Qatar Cool was also recently recognized by Kahramaa\u2019s \u2018Tarsheed\u2019, a national campaign to improve water and energy efficiency, for its energy conservation efforts in industrial buildings in Qatar.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
