Qatar Cool Recognised by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change

Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) has been recognised by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for its refrigerant reclamation initiative and its contribution to promoting more sustainable practices within the cooling sector.

The recognition was presented by H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subai, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, to Qatar Cool’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Nahar Al-Mutawah, during the Ministry’s World Ozone Day 2026 event.

Qatar Cool was recognised for its efforts in the recovery, reclamation and reuse of refrigerants, supporting more responsible refrigerant management and contributing to efforts to protect the environment and preserve the ozone layer.

Since 2024, Qatar Cool has been implementing a structured process to recover refrigerants from its district cooling operations, treat and test them, and reuse suitable material where appropriate. The approach supports more efficient use of resources while reducing unnecessary disposal and the requirement for new refrigerant.

Commenting on the recognition, Nahar Al-Mutawah, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Cool, said:

“We are proud to receive this recognition, which reflects our commitment to integrating environmental responsibility into the way we operate. Initiatives such as refrigerant reclamation support our wider efforts to improve resource efficiency and contribute to the environmental objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.”

The recognition reinforces Qatar Cool’s continued focus on operational excellence, environmental stewardship and responsible cooling practices, as the company continues to identify practical ways to improve efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
